Speaking the language of Millennial Teens
In 1999, once I knew that I was going to live and work in the USA, I thought and prayed hard about how to proceed. I decided to form a ministry: ACTS Evangelism & Worship (Artistic, Creative, Technological, Spirit-led Evangelism & Worship). America is full of people who founded a ministry so that they can be king - I was only interested in building up the Kingdom of God! I felt rather than going around promoting the name of Sal Solo, working under this ministry banner would emphasize that the focus is upon Jesus, and not me.
ACTS Evangelism & Worship is a new kind of ministry to meet the needs presented by a new millennium and a new century. Aim: to use all artistic, creative and technological means, to follow the prompting of the Holy Spirit, in order to evangelize the people with the Gospel of Christ, and lead them to worship the Living God. The name not only reminds us of the first apostles in the Bible, and their achievements, but every letter describes our mission:
Artistic....
In the 21st Century, videos, music, eye catching logos and designs are used to sell everything under the sun. In past centuries the world''s greatest art and music was often dedicated to God. ACTS is committed to redressing that balance and reclaiming our heritage as children of the eternal artist and creator of all.
Creative....
It does not matter how important the message if it is spoken in a language no longer understood by modern people, and especially the young. ACTS has a committed team of people, both experienced and youthful, constantly looking for creative new ways to present the eternal truths, with music, video, design, drama, and every modern method.
Technological....
CDs - videos - cellphones - computers - MP3 - internet.... The 21st Century offers the most widespread and instant forms of communication the world has ever seen. Something to be feared or something to be used for God''s purpose? ACTS embraces all that 21st Century technology has to offer for the good of the Gospel.
Spirit-led....
On the Day of Pentecost 3,000 people joined the Church because the Holy Spirit turned a handful of frightened people into evangelists. In the same way, the ministry of ACTS relies on the Holy Spirit to equip a handful of people, so that thousands may be brought back to the Church which Christ has founded.
Evangelism....
Evangelism means reaching out with the Good News of the Gospel: that Jesus Christ lived, died, and rose again, that we might have eternal life in Him. At a time when many people are confused about the essentials of Christianity and the Gospel story, ACTS focuses upon Jesus, the Way, the Truth, and the Life.
Worship....
When people discover that God is real, that Jesus is alive, that His word is true, and sincerely want to follow Him, then comes the need to learn to worship Him in Spirit and in Truth. ACTS is dedicated to creating an environment which makes it easier to worship Him, to devising new forms of worship, and new resources.
This new ministry has been gaining momentum at an encouraging pace, and a team of around 20 people is working to promote new initiatives across the USA and beyond:
